Cantarano Bolognese from the 17th century

Cantarano Bolognese from the 17th century

Solid walnut chest of drawers with walnut-root panelling, Emilian provenance, dating from the 17th century.

Impressive is the appearance of this piece of furniture built on architectural schemes that emphasise its importance. The layout, with a strong base with projecting pillars, preserves the rigidity and impressiveness common to other types of furniture. The monumental feature is embellished with elements taken from the great Roman prototypes. The twisted columns resting on large dadoes that act as pilasters, concealing a nest of superimposed drawers. The front consists of four superimposed drawers all in solid walnut. The finishes feature mixtilinear elements from the common Bolognese decorative vocabulary.
