17th century burl wood sideboard
17th century burl wood sideboard
Poplar-root plated sideboard, from the Bologna area of Emilia, dating from the 17th century. The plating on the entire hull makes it unique. The top, which can be partly opened, is serpentine and framed by an owl's beak bevelling. The sides are double-bevelled and conceal two doors. In the central part are two large, stepped framed doors with a drawer and shelf inside. The whole rests on a balustraded basin with a fretted ciabatta in the centre.
