Gothic mortar grou

Group of mortars all from a single Umbrian monastery, various sizes, cast in reddish-brown bronze with dark patina. Conical, on a rounded spadina base, with long vertical ribs. The swing rim is minimally scaled and profiled on the outside. Handle square and faceted. The outer wall all around with a few small indentations and a few scratches, the bottom slightly concave due to use. Bronze pestle with nodus and engraved double ring lines.

 

Provenance is Umbrian dating from the end of the 15th century.
